Prosperity House Construction Update by Mark Silva

Not that much progress, but shapes are emerging..

1972 Henry Hester Gem in La Jolla by Mark Silva

Looking to add a large addition. The copper standing seam roof edge detail is not original, added by another local architect in the 90s, which unfortunately made its own statement, changing the architecture, and the roof still leaked. A very cool house nonetheless.

St Francis Of Assisi Chapel by Mark Silva

On my way on a rainy day to meet clients to look at property in Wine Country Temecula, I drove through Warner Springs. Saw this as I went by, did a u-turn to go back and check it out. Super cool old structure!

Built in 1830 apparently, this adobe structure has had some major settlement over the nearly 200 years. Check the retrofit buttresses on the backside holding up the severely leaning wall.

More information is available here.

Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Test Mix Day by Mark Silva

Very special project in Carlsbad investigating using UHPC in conjunction with concrete forming products, and in other ways, providing superior strength, economy, and additional architectural freedoms. Special Inspector observing and taking samples for testing in the lab. Several batches made today with enough left over for my little architectural concrete veneer block mold experiment!

Ride By by Mark Silva

Passed by a couple of my old past projects on my bike ride this morning. Love the weathered look of good modern asian design, if I do say so myself.
