Paolo Soleri was a visionary. His concepts from the 1950s which he worked toward his entire life, are as valid now as ever. Arcology - the blending of architecture and ecology as a way for mankind to move into the future in harmony with nature, and with each other. With his own hands, and with apprentices, he started building the first prototype, Arcosanti in 1970. His vision of mega-cities where the personal automobile is not needed, and all needs are obtained locally, is I believe how we are going to have to end up, eventually. He was just way ahead of his time, and the idea just too big to fit into the corporate for profit world we live in.
